The YES! Coalition are parents, service organization leaders, government officials, teachers, community leaders, grandparents, business people, school principals, youth, plus a dozen other roles and/or labels.
But we have a common goal: to keep our youth safe by urging them to remain abstinent from sex and other risky behaviors.
We have members and programs in the following counties: Gladwin, Midland and Roscommon. But, we are always looking to expand into any area where there is a need and where like-minded community members step forth to promote abstinence.
Our Mission-
Our mission is to promote abstinence from risky behavior to youth and to facilitate meaningful connections between them and their parents or other supportive adults.
Our Statements of Purpose-
The YES! Coalition will provide resources and advice for the purposes of:
Encouraging abstinence from sex until marriage to youth ages 9-17.
Encouraging abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs to youth ages 9-17.
Providing education to youth, families and community members for the prevention of early sexual involvement and other risky behaviors in youth ages 9-17.
Providing skills training to youth ages 9-17 to resist peer and social pressure toward risky behaviors.
Providing skills training to adults to help their child or other youth ages 9-17 resist pressures toward risky behaviors.
Providing programs that are geared to fostering a connection between youth ages 9-17 and their parents or other supportive adults, with the expressed expectation that such a bond will be the ultimate prevention tool for youth to resist pressures toward risky behaviors.
